Mr. Reed was broadly experienced in corporate, securities, real estate, and patent law. He had practiced in Washington, DC for thirty years. His practice had included a wide variety of transactional representation of corporate and entrepreneurial clients, including foreign clients with inward investments in the United States.

 

Mr. Reed had been involved in business structuring, mergers and acquisitions, contests for corporate control, transactional work in both the corporate and real estate areas, securities counseling, capital formation, banking and litigation. Mr. Reed also had direct business experience in real estate development and community banking, and, previously, was a research chemical engineer and a Foreign Service Reserve Officer with the Office of Science and Technology, United States Department of State. Mr. Reed had been an adjunct faculty member at the American University (law) and the University of the District of Columbia (engineering).

 

Mr. Reed was a law clerk to Justice Tom Clark, United States Supreme Court. He was a Fulbright Fellow, and was a member of various honorary societies in engineering and in law. He also received the Texas Association of Plaintiffs Attorneys' Award and American Jurisprudence Awards.

 

He received degrees from Rice University (BA, Chemical Engineering, 1956), the University of Texas (M.S., Chemical Engineering), the Institut Français de Pétrole, Paris (Cert., Fluid Mechanics) and South Texas College of Law, Houston, Summa Cum Laude. He was editor-in-chief of the South Texas Law Journal.
