Ms. Stanley focuses her practice on the representation of technology-based and technology-reliant companies in corporate and litigation support matters. On corporate issues, Ms. Stanley advises clients on the variety of intellectual property tools, policies and procedures available to protect, police, market and maximize their intellectual capital. Her transactional practice concentrates on issues facing business/legal managers including licensing and technology outsourcing transactions. She has significant experience evaluating intellectual property portfolios especially in connection with corporate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions.
As a Registered Patent Attorney, Ms. Stanley also specializes in evaluating and acquiring patent rights arising from wireless and web-enabling systems, interactive and multi-media technology, encryption, control systems, cloud technology, informatics and business methods, that spawns a wide variety of industries such as mobile communications, sensors, Internet of Things (IoT), e-commerce, transportation, energy, financial services/insurance, big data and healthcare. She has also represented US and international clients in all stages of patent prosecution before the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the European Patent Office (EPO), the Japanese Patent Office (JPO), the Korean Intellectual Patent Office (KIPO), the Canadian Intellectual Patent Office (CIPO), the (renamed) China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
In addition to domestic and foreign patent prosecution, on the litigation support side of her practice, Ms. Stanley represents clients as Lead Technical Counsel in complex patent litigation in the computer, telecommunications and manufacturing industries in federal court.
Prior to becoming associated with the Firm, Ms. Stanley was U. S. Patent Examiner responsible for resolving patentability and technical sufficiency for computer, electrical, mechanical and business methods inventions. Before that, Ms. Stanley worked as an Electrical Engineer at a utility company.
Ms. Stanley is a graduate of University of Miami where she earned BS and MS, Industrial Engineering degrees, and a JD, which she completed at Georgetown University Law Center. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, and is registered to practice before the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office.
