Mr. Ryu’s practice primarily focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications relating to mechanical and electro mechanical designs including, but not limited to, laser and optics, Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS), semiconductor & thin film processing, and LED & OLED device.

Mr. Ryu worked for 10 years at Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) as a research scientist in bio & polymer MEMS to design and fabricate micro-actuators and micro-sensors using ionic polymer metal composite, polypyrrole, PDMS, and cardiac muscle cell.  He is an author of over 15 international journals and conference papers such as Analytical Chemistry, Journal of Biosensors & Bioelectronics, Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, International Microprocesses and Nanotechnology Conference, International Conference on Intelligent Robots and System etc.  He also holds several U.S. patents.

 

Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a patent attorney at Hahn Loser and Parks LLP, Brooks Kushman, and serval patent boutique firms in the United States for more than 10 years. 

 

Mr. Ryu received a J.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University. He also received his Bachelor and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, with a focus on laser micro-machining and MEMS.  He is admitted to the District of Columbia (DC) Bar and registered before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
