Mr. Harris concentrates his practice in intellectual property with a particular focus on patent preparation and prosecution.  He is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and has experience in the drafting and prosecution of domestic and international application for a diverse client base ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-up businesses and individuals.  Mr. Harris also has experience in conducting freedom-to-operate, non-infringement, and invalidity investigations and drafting formal opinions on such.

 

Mr. Harris has extensive knowledge in the mechanical, chemical, and biochemical arts.  Some of his particular experience includes nanotechnology, electrochemical cells, polymers, films, fibers, nonwovens, biomedical devices, and textile chemistry.  In addition, Mr. Harris is well-versed in emerging technological areas including information technology, mobile devices, computer software, and business methods.  Some of his expertise in these areas includes financial services, telecommunications, mobile banking, augmented reality, quick response (QR) code technology, social media, and online security.

 

Mr. Harris graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he served on the Editorial Board for the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal and was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Association.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Clemson University where he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, with a minor in Business Administration.  Mr. Harris graduated as co-valedictorian of his graduating class with a 4.00 grade point average.
